KUALA LUMPUR: It pays to keep your money in Agrobank.

That's what Sabaruddin Alias found out when he was named the grand prize winner of the "Kempen Berbaloi Agrobank".

The 52-year-old fish rearer walked away with a RM250,000 Mercedes Benz C200.

Sabaruddin, from Jerantut, Pahang, has been an Islamic account-holder since 1983 when the bank was known as Bank Pertanian.

"I didn't expect this. It's a wonderful surprise. I will keep and use this car for my own use," he said when met at the prize presentation ceremony here yesterday.

Present at the event was Agrobank chief executive officer (CEO) Wan Mohd Fadzmi Wan Othman.

Wan Mohd said the bank rewards its customers annually through various programmes and contests.

He said it had experienced an increase in the number of account-holders following the campaign, which was held from May 1 till October 31 last year.

"We managed to garner a total of 86,538 accountholders during the competition. Of this, 20,311 were new account-holders. They had deposited a total of RM119.6 million with us," Wan Mohd said.
