Celcom Axiata Bhd CEO Datuk Sri Shazalli Ramly during
the signing ceremony between Bank Simpanan Nasional and
Celcom Axiata at Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
Celcom Axiata chief executive officer Datuk Seri Shazalli Ramly said Celcom records an average of 600,000 reload transactions a day with an average value of RM13,000.
"Our partnership will provide Celcom users with even more convenient locations for prepaid reloads via BSN's 4,209 nationwide network of selected and registered banking agents," Shazalli said here yesterday after inking the deal with the government-owned bank.
Under their alliance, handphone users, especially in remote areas can top up their prepaid cards by locating the nearest agent in their hometown and need not go to big towns.
The new service, which will focus on rural areas, will be offered through BSN's point-of-sale terminals, which allow for fully-digital transactions while removing the need for physical cards.
The transactions performed through this channel are secured with Celcom's M2M services at no additional cost.
All Celcom prepaid brands are eligible for reloads purchased through BSN's authorised banking agents, including Celcom First, Xpax, U.O.X, S.O.X, Celcom Frenz and Instanet broadband.
BSN chairman Tan Sri Abu Bakar Abdullah said the new service will benefit both companies' customers.
With the agreement, BSN's registered banking agents now offer six-types of services, which are bill payments, cash deposits, cash withdrawals, Skim Simpanan Pendidikan Negara savings, cashless payments and the latest, mobile reloads.
Abu Bakar said BSN's 4,209 registered banking agents recorded more than 7.9 million transactions amounting to more than RM705 million as at July 30 2013.
The bank targets to have an additional 5,000 registered banking agents by year-end, he said.
