Bank Rakyat gives 10,000 copies of The Star to motorists

PETALING JAYA: Motorists stopping at the Subang toll plaza here yesterday were in for a pleasant surprise when they received free copies of The Star for their reading pleasure. “We’re giving back to society,” said Bank Rakyat’s head of Public Affairs Saliman Zainal. “It’s a simple gesture, a free newspaper for people to enjoy during the long weekend.”

Enclosed with the newspapers are pamphlets with information on Bank Rakyat’s Save&Win campaign.
The campaign allows for Bank Rakyat Savings Account-i and Deposit Account-i holders with minimum savings of RM500 and RM1,000 respectively to win lucrative prizes through lucky draw every month.
Ninety monthly prizes, 20 grand prizes and five bonanza prizes worth RM716,000 in total will be offered during the campaign which runs until March 31.

“Save&Win is also in line with the Government’s call to promote savings among the community,” said Saliman, who was among several volunteers from Bank Rakyat and The Star who gave away the newspapers.

More information about Save&Win can be obtained from Bank Rakyat’s website at www.bankrakyat.com.my.

Some 10,000 copies of The Star were given away from 9.45am until noon yesterday, with 5,000 distributed at the Jalan Duta toll plaza and 5,000 at the Subang toll plaza.

Motorists said they were delighted to receive the free newspaper and pamphlets.
“It’s a good idea,” said bank officer Mohd Zulhaimi, 48, about the campaign. “I’m free during the holidays, so I have more time to read the paper.”

“I now have an extra copy of The Star I can give to my friend,” said businesswoman Nadira Yussof, 27, who found the Save&Win campaign prizes attractive.
