KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Bhd's (BPMB) net profit rose 20% for the financial year ended Dec 31, 2011 to RM462mil.
It said on Monday its pre-tax profit rose 23% to RM618mil from RM503mil.
BPMB said net interest income increased by nearly 3.6% to RM664mil from RM641mil due to higher income from loans and advances on the back of 6% gross loan growth.
It said the gross loan growth was largely contributed by loan disbursement to infrastructure projects totaling RM2.9 billion.
"Out of this, RM2.2 billion was for Government-backed projects, while RM306.2 million was progress payment under private finance initiative (PFI) projects favouring the education sub-sector involving construction of UiTM campuses," BPMB said.
