The bank acquired a 44-seater and 25-seater buses from Scania for RM550,000 and RM320,000 respectively. The buses will be used mainly to facilitate daily transportation of its employees to training courses, meetings and events.
The buses, part of the newly launched Scania K 114 IB series, feature a 410hp Euro 3 compliant engine with the latest emission technology, which allows for safer, more comfortable and lower fuel consumption drive.
BSN has previously acquired three of them acquired from Scania in 2008, two 44-seaters and a 25-seater buses.
Scania Malaysia general manager Idros Puteh said: “We are extremely honoured that Scania’s legendary comfort, safety and reliability has won over BSN’s approval with a repeat purchase and we look forward to strengthening our relationship with one of Malaysia’s longest standing banks.”
BSN deputy chief executive officer, corporate support, Ahmad Latfan Mohd Amran said: “We have plans to replace the older models in the near future but for now we will still be using these models together with the new ones.”
Scania Malaysia plans to sell 200 units for the new bus and 315 trucks this year. The company experienced a dip in sales of buses last year due to the consolidation of licenses by the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) which affected many of the bus manufacturing companies.
Scania Malaysia currently have 186 pending orders for its new buses.
