JEDDAH, April 11 (Bernama) -- Tabung Haji's (TH) fee for Malaysians
performing the Haj pilgrimage this year will be maintained at RM9,980
per pilgrim although costs have risen, said its managing director and
chief effective officer Datuk Ismee Ismail.

He said TH was expected to subsidise each pilgrim to the amount of
RM5,575 this year as compared to RM5,100 last year to maintain last
year's rate of RM9,980.
He said expansion projects around the Grand Mosque in Mecca had forced
TH to rent several new buildings to accommodate Malaysian pilgrims,
which led to the rise in costs.
The expansion resulted in several buildings, some of them rented by TH,
to be demolished, leading to a shortage of accommodation facilities and
thus increase in rental rates, he told Malaysian journalists after
participating in a meeting between TH and Saudi Arabia's Haj Ministry
here Wednesday.
However, he did not expect Malaysian pilgrims to face any accommodation problems this coming Haj season.
