Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir
Baharom said Tabung Haji gave special consideration to appeals made by
elderly pilgrims or those chosen to escort female pilgrims.
"Generally, the haj quota for Malaysia is 27,000 per year, thus the waiting period to perform the haj is 35 years.
"However, Tabung Haji is considerate and gives priority to appeals made by those who are old," he said.
He was replying to a question from Datuk Ismail Mohamad Said (BN-Kuala
Krau) who wanted to know the efforts made so that the country's haj
quota was not affected by the illegal assembly staged by a group of
Malaysians in the Holy Land on April 28.
