"The offer will not be withdrawn. They can continue their preparation to
perform the Haj," said Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) in a statement on
Monday.
The TH statement suggested that would-be-pilgrims who were selected but had yet to give their answer to do so immediately.
"They will be informed of their status through a letter calling for an intensive Haj course," said TH.
According to TH, for those who sent letters of appeal to perform the Haj
this year, and did not receive any further information by the end of
Ramadan, it meant their appeals were unsuccessful.
The reduction of the quota was following the latest directive from the
Saudi Arabian government to reduce the Haj quotas of all countries by 20
per cent following work to expand the Masjidil Haram in Mecca.
TH hoped the public especially would-be-pilgrims could accept the
decision and understand the situation because the reduction was a
temporary measure, for two or three years.
For further information, the public can surf TH's website at
www.tabunghaji.com.my or contact TH's Contact Centre at 03-62071919.
