He said the allocation was channeled via tithe collection centres
nationwide, deserving recipients and for the purchase of hearses for
selected mosques.
"This is part of our social responsibility to the Muslim community in
the country," he told reporters after handing over a hearse to a mosque
in Selising, near here today.
Mohd Sofi said among Islamic banking products offered by BSN were
i-saving account, house financing, personal financing and Al-Aiman
credit card.
He said BSN currently had a staff strength of 6,000 people, 398
branches, 998 automated teller machines, 283 cash deposit machines,
4,262 registered agents, eight million customers and retail deposits of
RM10.4 billion.
Mohd Sofi added that BSN planned to widen its network of agents soon to
include areas in Sabah and Sarawak where commercial banking was not
available.
