Sabah Regional Head Zainal Amini Sulaiman said the amount was the profit accrued from its business up to March this year.
Overall, Bank Rakyat recorded RM2.11 billion in pre-tax profit and zakat as at December last year, he said.
"The amount is a 4.7 per cent increase or RM94.9 million vis-a-vis
RM2.02 billion in the same period last year," he said when speaking at a
breaking-of-the-fast event and handing over of business zakat here last
night.
Zainal said Bank Rakyat has always given particular attention to the
CSR programme in ensuring the welfare and plight of the poor to ease
their financial burden.
"This programme is in line with the government's aspiration to
encourage corporate entities to endear themselves to the people in
creating a caring and sharing community.
"This contribution is far bigger as Bank Rakyat branches in the east
coast of Sabah have also contributed towards this noble cause in the
Ramadan holy month," he added.
