With the increase, more qualified people including single mothers, the
poor, seniors citizens and people with disabilities will receive aid
compared to the 3,000 people currently.
"We used to channel aid through Zakat Collection Centres and State
Islamic Religious Councils but with this programme we can meet the
people and distribute the aid personally.
"It is a two-pronged programme to help the Asnaf (qualified group) and
to foster friendship and understand problems faced by the local
community," he told reporters after presenting tithe amounting
RM160,000 under the Ehsan Project for Johor to mark Ramadan to 320
recipients here today.
Johor is the tenth location in the Ehsan Project Tour where each recipient will get cash aid of RM500.
Abdul Azeez said TH will continue with charitable efforts to help the
Muslim community in this country, regardless of political affiliation.
"We want TH to not only benefit the depositors but also help people who
in need regardless whether they are from Sabah, Sarawak or Peninsular
Malaysia."
TH also implemented the Iqraq programme which provide aid to schools to
motivate poor students and orphans who will sit for their UPSR, SPM and
STPM examination.
Abdul Azeez said following Saudi Arabia's decision to reduce the
country's haj quota by 20 per cent, TH will ensure that only those
really healthy are allowed to perform the pilgrimage.
"Those suffering from chronic illnesses that require treatment such as dialysis will be postponed.
